Every SPSLink radio arrives with its SPSLink SIM installed and its plan already attached to the SIM. There is nothing to activate and no account to set up before you use it. Here is what day one looks like.
1. Charge or power the radio
Go and Trek: connect the USB-C cable and power adapter and charge fully before the first use. Commander: connect the power cable to a 10 to 24 V DC supply that can deliver at least 2 A, or use the supplied USB adapter, and screw on the 4G antenna.
2. Turn it on
Go and Trek: hold the Exit/Power key until the screen lights. Commander: turn the power/volume knob. The radio searches for the network, then shows your group name once it has registered. The first registration can take a minute or two in a new location.
3. Service starts automatically
Your SPSLink plan starts the first time the radio registers on the network and runs for one year from that date. You do not need to call us or enter anything on the radio.
4. Make a test call
With two radios on, press and hold PTT on one and speak. The other radio in the same group plays the call. Release PTT to listen. If you hear nothing, see Making group and private calls in Radios & settings.
Using Wi-Fi instead of cellular
The Go and Trek can also talk over Wi-Fi, including a Starlink Mini. Join the network from the radio's menu and it reconnects automatically afterwards. See Joining a Wi-Fi network. The Commander is 4G LTE only.
GPS tracking, SOS and other services
GPS tracking, voice recording, geofencing and app access are account services. If you ordered them with the radio they are already on your account; if not, email us and we can add them.
