Both radios show signal but a call goes one way, is silent, or sounds broken up. Check these in order.
Are you in the same group?
Group calls only reach radios in the same group. Check the group name on each screen and switch with the Up/Group key (Go and Trek) or the Group key (Commander). A private call reaches only the member you selected.
Volume and mute
- Turn the volume up with Vol+ (Go and Trek) or the knob (Commander).
- If an earpiece or headset is plugged in, the speaker is muted and all audio goes to the accessory. Unplug it to use the speaker.
- On the Go and Trek, check the accessory connector cover is seated; a half-inserted plug can mute the speaker without carrying audio.
Talking technique
- Press and hold PTT, wait for the tone, then speak. Words spoken before the tone are cut off.
- Hold the microphone 2 to 5 cm from your mouth. Shouting or covering the mic distorts the call.
- Only one radio can transmit at a time. A busy tone means someone else is talking.
Broken-up or delayed audio
Push to talk over cellular needs a steady connection. One bar of signal, a congested site or a weak Wi-Fi link causes dropouts. Move to better signal, or on the Go and Trek join a Wi-Fi network or Starlink Mini. Expect a short delay between pressing PTT and the other radio hearing you; that is normal.
One radio hears nothing at all
Restart it (hold Exit/Power, or turn the Commander's knob off and on). If it still hears nothing while other radios work, email us with the radio model and the group name so we can check its settings on the account.
