The SPSLink Trek has a dedicated SOS key: the red Vol+/SOS key on the left side of the radio. Held for three seconds, it sends an alert with the radio's GPS position to the dispatcher on your SPSLink account.
Before it will work
SOS is part of the GPS tracking service, which is an account service. Two things must be true for the key to do anything: GPS tracking must be active on your SPSLink account, and someone on your account must be set up as the dispatcher who receives alerts. If you are not sure either is in place, email us before you rely on it.
Sending an alert
- Press and hold the red Vol+/SOS key for three seconds.
- The radio confirms with a tone and an on-screen message, and sends your position to the dispatcher.
- Stay on the radio: the dispatcher can call you back on the group or privately.
Cancelling an alert
If the key was pressed by mistake, tell the dispatcher on the radio straight away. The dispatcher clears the alert in the tracking portal.
Good to know
- SOS alerts go to your own account's dispatcher, not to public emergency services. For a life-threatening emergency, call the local emergency number by phone as well.
- The alert needs a network connection (4G LTE or Wi-Fi) to send, and a GPS fix for the position. Outdoors with a clear sky view gives the best fix.
- The Go does not have a dedicated SOS key, and the Commander does not list GPS or SOS.
