SPSLink radios make two kinds of push to talk call: a group call, heard by every radio in the selected group, and a private call to one member. Calls travel over 4G LTE (and Wi-Fi on the Go and Trek), so range is wherever the radios have a connection, not line of sight.
Group calls
- Check the group name on the screen. To change group, use the Up/Group key (Go and Trek) or the Group key (Commander) to scroll, then confirm.
- Press and hold PTT, wait for the tone, then speak.
- Release PTT to listen. Only one radio can transmit at a time; if someone else is already talking you will hear a busy tone.
Private calls
- Press the Down/Member key (Go and Trek) or the Member key (Commander) to open the member list.
- Scroll to the person you want and confirm.
- Press and hold PTT to talk. Press Exit to return to the group.
Priority speaker
A radio set as the priority speaker on your account can break into a group call, so a dispatcher or supervisor is always heard. Ask us if you want a radio set as priority.
Tips
- Hold the radio 2 to 5 cm from your mouth and speak after the tone, not before.
- Wi-Fi and 4G LTE both carry calls. The radio uses whichever it is connected to.
- All SPSLink radios and the SPSLink app on one account share the same groups, so the Commander in the truck is on the same call as the Go and Trek in the field.
